Have You Ever Been Blue?

You’re not alone! Drag yourself over to Temple Emek Shalom (1800 East Main Street in Ashland) by 7 pm on October 29 to hear stories of being “Down & Out,” tales of breakdowns, breakups, and being flat broke. This Fall Hearth event will explore all the ways life goes wrong. Come out and hear six brave souls share riveting stories of living through hard times. Tellers include Claudia Alick, Leigh Madsen, Kelly Cruser, Lucinda Weatherby, Lauren Cutler, and others. Music by Mark Gostnell, Sam Cuenca, Bob Evoniuk, Wendi Stanek, and Duane Whitcomb. Cost is $5 and proceeds at the door will benefit Uncle Foods Diner. Hosted by Mark Yaconelli. Refreshments available. Hosts are asking all audience members to please walk, bike, or carpool if possible to reduce our carbon footprint!

Still Room in Peter Sears’ Poetry Workshop!

Don’t forget Oregon Poet Laureate Peter Sears’ visit to the Rogue Valley, October 30-31. He’ll give a public reading in the basement of the Ashland Public Library Friday, October 30, 7:30-9:00.

On Saturday, October 31, 9:30-11:30 am Sears will lead a free workshop on Poetry Triggers in the basement of the Ashland Public Library. There’s still space for you to attend! Register at the reference desk, or call 774-6996. These events are FREE!
