Ashland High’s Seena Frantz said she should have kicked sooner and was “still in 3,000 mode” in today’s 1,500 Class 5A girls finals. The senior distance runner finished fourth in the race, which included no real surprises. Heavy favorite Kayleigh Tyerman of Crater won easily, Kellie Foley of Crook County was second and Alyssa O’Connor [...]

By Joe Zavala EUGENE – Former teammate and 2008 state champion Matt Miner e-mailed Ashland High junior Wilder Schaaf prior to Friday’s state track and field meet. Oden’s no bust

I was talking with Mike Oxendine the other day. He’s the page design editor, and a fellow closet Blazer fan (during the season we would often make eye contact and simultaneously shake our heads – the universal expression for “boy, the Blazers sure sucked last night.”) After Houston eliminated Portland in the first round of [...]

Raiders have leverage?

Somebody who read Tuesday’s blog pointed out to me that Western Washington’s decision to drop football may open the door for an NCAA Division II football-only future at SOU. Although the possibility is still remote, that development at least gives the Raiders a chance since the NCAA is also suffering from a lack of small [...]
