Pilots claim another state title

The Ashland Pilots won their third American Legion A state title in four years today, beating La Grande 7-1 in the championship game at Swede Johnson Stadium in Eugene.

Max Anderson pitched a complete game and Ethan Schlecht hit a bases-clearing double in the fourth for the Pilots, who also edged Roseburg Pepsi 9-6 in eight innings earlier in the day.

Ashland now heads to the regional tournament, which begins Friday in Bozeman, Mont.
