Weekly Watercolor: Lighthouse

There’s actually a great story behind this.

If this is your first visit to my Weekly Watercolor installment, it’s essentially a new Friday thing at the Pocket Protector blog. I pick out a watercolor I’ve done, post it, and fill you in on some of the background details.

Back in June, my wife and I joined some friends out in Newport for a weekend. We stayed at a little cottage a stone’s throw from the water. It’s the coast, so I naturally took my watercolor stuff with me. On the one jaunt down to the ocean I actually made time for painting however, I neglected to bring  a receptacle for some water. My wife provided a solution, pulling a lime-sized shell from the shallows, seawater already inside.

I used that to prep the paint, and the above painting resulted.

Have a great weekend.
