Welcome back to Haiku Monday, where Fish Hack is in the unprecedented position of being under .500 on Book It! Friday picks, a true first.
Didn’t figure Tom Brady and Andrew Luck would biff the spread against a couple bad teams.
Lost two out of three./Fish Hack out of the money./Gotta biff some time.
For you Haiku Monday virgins, this is when and where Fish Hack waxes on and off non-Brazilian style about the outdoors and whatever else comes to mind, with a few bad versions of ancient Japanese poetry sprinkled in for good measure.
Gotta have a schtick./Stand out in the cyber world./Be stupid up front.
Football aside, early September is the best time to be a fly-flicker on the upper Rogue River, which is Hack’s home waters.
Water releases from Lost Creek Lake go up beginning Tuesday and that will get the steelhead moving around. This is the annual “spill” to help draw fall chinook salmon through the Lower Rogue Canyon before natural warm-water diseases break out.
Luckily for us flickers, the release water temperatures remain in the mid-50s, which helps keep the steelhead active and ready to rise to a streamer swung through traditional rapids and trail-outs on Indian Summer evenings.
Fly time best on Rogue./Swing a streamer, then hold on./Summers: Best fighters.
