HAIKU MONDAY: On Home Waters, Steelhead and Nate the No Longer Ingrate.

Nate Barnard and his second-ever steelhead on a fly.

Welcome back to Haiku Monday, where Fish Hack is finally 2-0 on a Sunday’s worth of NFL games and back in the driftboat for some more steelhead on the home waters of the Rogue River.

Love the home water./Intimate with her riffles/So fond of her pools.
For you few Haiku Monday virgins out there, this is when and where Fish Hack waxes on and off non-Brazilian style about the outdoors and whatever the hell else comes to mind, with a few pieces of bad Japanese poetry sprinkled in as the schtick.
Had Nate the No Longer Ingrate in the boat Friday with his dad Jeff for some fly-fishing for steelhead.
You might remember Nate the Ingrate from a past Haiku Monday after Fish Hack rowed him into some epic Rogue steelhead without him ever saying thank you.
Well, Nate picked up this nice 8-pound wild steelhead on a streamer. Damn near ate him up but he managed to boat only his second ever steelhead on a fly,
After a short pick and easy release, Nate snapped his head around for a big “Thank You” to Hack.
Tale of Two Anglers./Nate’s no longer an ingrate./Good to have him back.

I've underachieved as the Mail Tribune's Fish Hack since 1989. I can't help but find a few things to yuk about with pathetic regularity in the outdoors. My most treasured award? An OSHA citation for a messy desk -- Fire hazard. YEAH! Read Full
