Will the Beavers’ bubble burst?

By TIM TROWER

There are some who think Oregon State, given that it’s the two-time defending national champion, should be invited to the NCAA baseball tournament on Monday if the Beavers are at all close to being considered. Others think their recent tail-spin — four straight losses and five losses in six games — have doomed OSU’s chances. The Beavers are 25-24 overall and ended the Pac-10 Conference two games under .500 at 11-13.

Oregon State is host to lowly Pacific for three regular-season ending games this weekend. Coach Pat Casey’s outfit believes it needs to win all three to get in. Whether that’s enough remains to be seen, as the Tigers are rated 182nd by one service.
