My blog today was going to be about the recent PBA event, tying up loose ends and such. But it ran long enough I turned it into a column that will be in Thursday’s paper.
So some other thoughts.
I just flipped on the TV and realized it’s time to go from the NFL Network, where they’re showing a replay of the Titans-Ravens, to The Golf Channel. Yep, the season’s upon us. The Bob Hope Classic is being shown as I type. One thing we need to do is catch up with Ashland’s Jason Allred and find out his plans. I’m told he’ll get into some Nationwide events and Monday qualify for others after not advancing out of Q School in December. But again, it’s something we need to check on. The Nationwide Tour begins Feb. 5 in Panama.
I heard some interesting thoughts on Mike and Mike the other morning. They were coming up with — or reading listeners’ suggestions — on how to change the sports landscape.
Greeny said change scoring for field goals in the NFL (or maybe at every level). Kicks of 30 yards or shorter would be worth two points, 31 to 50 yards three points and anything beyond four points. That would encourage teams to go for it on fourth down closer to the goal line, he said. Golic’s idea was to have coaches dress exactly as players, as managers do in the major leagues. It’d be quite the sight seeing Don Nelson or Phil Jackson in uni, especially if they went old school.
Well, that’s my little replacement blog.
