Mike Wilson is off to a to a good start on his pro career, it seems, with a great trainer in Dickie Wood and a solid management group. It might be only a matter of time before he enjoys a bit of celebrity. In the meantime, he’s brushing against it now in the gym he’s training at in Miami. And I’m not talking Jermain Taylor, who trains under Wood and will fight Carl Froch for the WBC super middleweight title April 25.
Another person working out in their gym is Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson, the former Oregon State wide receiver who has been a lightning rod for media attention with the Cincy Bengals. Wilson reports Johnson is a “great guy” and doesn’t understand how he could be construed as anything but as he occasionally is in media reports. They’ve struck up a friendship through their work together. Wilson also came across Warren Sapp the other day. Must be fun in south Miami.
