Schnugg, Georgia bumped from NCAAs

Former North Medford tennis player Nate Schnugg and the Georgia Bulldogs won’t defend the NCAA team championship they won the past two years. Texas, ranked 12th, saw to that with a 4-2 win on Sunday in the quarterfinals. The loss snapped Georgia’s 15-match NCAA tournament winning streak. Georgia’s (25-4) last tourney loss was in the 2006 finals to Pepperdine.

Schnugg isn’t quite through, however. He compete in the singles and doubles championships beginning Wednesday. His doubles partner is Jamie Hunt.
