Jenn Shelton, an acclaimed ultra-marathon runner who lives in Ashland, will be the guest Friday when the Mail Tribune’s live, unscripted and interactive sports chat returns for a 13th week. Shelton will speak with Mail Tribune sports reporter Dan Jones at noon.

Shelton won this year’s 10-mile Pear Blossom Run in a personal-best 59 minutes, 50 seconds. Last Saturday, the Virginia Beach, Va., native captured the Deseret News Marathon title in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her time in the 26.2-mile run was 2:54.23.
Shelton said she’ll next compete in the 33rd annual Mt. Ashland Hill Climb Run on Aug. 7. The 13.3-mile event begins in downtown Ashland and climbs to the Mt. Ashland summit. The run has the second most elevation gain of any continuous hill climb in the continental United States.
Shelton was written about in author Christopher McDougall’s best seller “Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen.”
